Student reflections:
Roy Tong - We boarded the bus at 9:30 and arrived at 9:50. I was extremely excited and nervous. I was excited because I was ecstatic getting into District but also nervous because I was clueless of the time. The interior of the bus was a microcosm of itself. My first event started at 10:10 which was the 11 year old boys shotput. I came second in my group and third overall. My second event was at 10:40 which was the 11 year old boys discus. I got second in my group and second overall which means I made it into Division. Once we got back on the bus I was proud of my school coming second place, almost winning the trophy. Also myself for getting two second place ribbons. Now I get to represent the district at division sports.
Keira Ternes - At district athletics on Thursday the 5th of September I was one of the 35 students who went and represented WMPS at Ringwood athletics track. I competed in 3 events which are long jump, 4 x 100 relay and shot put. For the shot put I was nervous because it was my first event and it was at 10:10am. I was in Group A and I tried my best and that got me a ribbon that was blue… which is first. I was so happy and this is how far I threw the shot put. On my first turn I threw it 6.24m. On my second turn I threw it 6.86m I was in the lead. On my third turn I threw it an amazing distance of 7.10m. After all of the events the presentations started and WMPS came … 2nd out of 8 schools and now I get to represent the District at the Monash-Waverley Division athletics with 6 other WMPS students.
