Year 10 Social Justice Camp
In Week 7, Year 10 students embarked on a three-day Social Justice and Leadership camp. The camp’s aim was to instil a sense of empathy, understanding, and service to the marginalised people in our local community and to create opportunities for leadership and initiative.
We travelled to West Care Centre in the city and gained a better understanding of the programs and efforts by organisations to combat social inequalities. Our time at AFL Max encouraged us to develop leadership skills and build on connections and friendships with one another.
On the final day, we visited Lighthouse City Mission and Outpost Church to bless our community through various services. We had a great few days and learned the importance of serving and blessing others.

Year 12 Psychology students hear from Clinical Psychologist Josh Peters
Year 12 Psychology students heard from Josh Peters, a Clinical Psychologist from Headspace. Josh is an experienced professional who shared about the diverse pathways within the field. He shared his own journey into clinical psychology and the challenges and rewards of the profession.
Students found the session insightful and motivating as they gained a deeper understanding of what it takes to pursue a career in psychology and the real-world impact they could make in this field.

Encounter Youth presents Vaping Seminar to Secondary students
Last week Secondary students attended a Vaping Seminar led by Encounter Youth Representative and former Police Officer.
Students learned what e-cigarettes are made of, including the often harmful ingredients they contain, and the serious health risks associated with vaping. Importantly, the presentation also covered how to support a friend who may have a bad reaction to a vape.
In addition to health concerns, the seminar explained the laws around vaping, including designated smoke-free and vape-free zones. Students were also introduced to various organisations and resources available to help young people quit vaping and get the support they need.
The session provided essential knowledge to help our students make informed decisions and look out for each other.
