At our recent Friendship Day, we were all invited to wear crazy socks and donate money to Make a Wish charity. We raised $350, which went towards granting wishes for very sick children, offering hope and comfort to the people who receive them.
Our actions of wearing crazy socks that day, are not only felt by the people receiving the wishes, but by their families, and those giving the wishes too. In God’s kingdom good deeds and action can multiply and reach so many.

This term in Science, our Year 5/6 students embarked on a captivating journey to explore the fundamental building blocks of God’s creation: matter.
Matter encompasses everything around us - the air we breathe, the food we eat, and even our own bodies. To share our enthusiasm and findings, we even made brochures to advertise our class. Through engaging activities and hands-on experiments, our students discovered the essential role that matter plays in our world.
To help students grasp these concepts, we used everyday examples and interactive lessons. For instance, one of our exciting experiments involved blowing up balloons using a mixture of bicarbonate of soda and vinegar. This not only illustrated the properties of gases but also brought to life the scientific principles we were studying.
Our exploration taught us that matter is all around us and can change from one state to another. These discoveries have deepened our appreciation for the complexity and wonder of God’s creation. We hope this journey into the world of matter has inspired curiosity and a sense of awe about the natural world. As we continue to learn and grow, let’s remember to marvel at the everyday miracles around us and see God’s handiwork in the science we study.
Mrs Pieterse, on behalf of the 5/6 team
"I enjoyed the different types of experiments we did, such as observing a melted snickers bar, a burnt piece of toast and salt in the water. We did this because we were observing if there were any chemical changes or physical changes.” Matias T
“What I really enjoyed this term about Science was the experiments that we did because we got to observe different chemical and physical reactions of matter.” Izaac T
“In Science this term we learnt about the three states of matter: solids, liquids and gases. We did lots of fun experiments to see how the different states work and how they are formed and shaped. For our assignment we made our own customised brochure on Canva to show our knowledge about what we learnt in class. We also did fun quizzes on our chrome book to prepare us for our assignment.” Ame J
