Tournament of Minds Competition Results

After six weeks of intense training, preparation, script writing, prop and costume making, the three Emmaus Teams made their way to Adelaide High School on Monday, 9 September for the Tournament of Minds Competition.

Emmaus (Brooklyn Park) team competed in the “Language Literature” category; the presentation revolves around rewriting a biography that had been written incorrectly, based on The Lorax.

Emmaus 1 team (South Plympton) competed in the “Social Sciences” category, where they explored the socioeconomic and cultural implications of all tectonic plates rejoining together.

Emmaus 2 team (South Plympton) competed in “the ARTS” category, where they retold the Journey to the Commonwealth Games weightlifting competition by our own Year 5 /6 Teacher, Mr. Max Dal Santo, as a Musical!

Our students rose to the occasion and learned the value of teamwork, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking.

We are proud to announce that the judges have awarded our ARTS team a top-three finish. Well done, everyone!

First Lego League 2024/2025 has begun!

First Lego League (FLL) is a global competition involving up to 40,000 children annually. Teams of up to 10 students from ages 10-16 complete Robotic Challenges using an automatic Lego Robot and propose an Innovation Project to solve authentic problems. This year’s theme, “Submerged,” explores issues and problems with life, resources, and explorations in the deep sea.

Emmaus has a 12-year history of facilitating teams to FLL competitions in Secondary School. In the past five years, we have qualified for National competitions, with many ex-students and senior students continuing to volunteer and coach new students.

This year, Emmaus has registered a team from Junior School and a team from Secondary School. The Secondary Team recently had an all-day planning event at our Brooklyn Park Campus, showcasing their work to Year 3-6 students.

We look forward to the Tournament Day on Sunday 10 November (Week 4, Term 4).
