Fathers' Day Celebrations

What a fabulous morning we had celebrating the gift of ‘Dads’. Thank you to everyone who helped in the organisation of the breakfast and to those that were able to attend.

The Kinder and Year 6 students led our Liturgy beautifully!

I am sharing the concluding Prayer with you as it speaks of how grateful we are to have our DADS !

Dear God,
As we come to the end of our time together today, we thank You for the special gift of our fathers and all the father figures in our lives. We are grateful for their love, guidance, and the countless ways they show their care for us.
Help us to remember the lessons they teach us and to show our appreciation through our words and actions. May we always honour and cherish them, not just today, but every day.
Bless all fathers with strength, wisdom, and joy. Grant them the grace to continue being a source of support and inspiration. And may we, as their children, grow to be loving and respectful in return. We place our trust in Your loving care, and we ask You to keep our families close to You and to each other. In Your holy name, we pray.  Amen

Grade Masses

A reminder that you are always most welcome to join in celebrating the Mass with your child’s grade. Grade Masses take place on most Fridays at 9.15am as part of the Parish morning Mass. This week Year 6 will be attending Mass. Year 5 will be attending on Friday 13th September. The following Friday Yr 6 will be attending. We’d love to see you there !

Year 4 Religious Education Planning day

This coming Tuesday Teachers from across the cluster will be here at OLF working with our Network Education Officer in Religious Education on a unit from the new RE Curriculum. It is interesting to note that the unit on Morality and Justice focuses on the following content:

In the light of the Scriptures, the human person is understood to be created “in the image and likeness of God” (Gen 1:26) and called into a new existence through Christ (link to Jesus and Scripture). This call gives rise to the unique freedom, dignity, and responsibility of human beings. It requires a process of moral discernment that holds together our nature as humans and the Christian vision of freedom and dignity in all areas of life: personal and relational integrity, economic and political participation, technological and ecological responsibility. Christians cooperate with all people to foster human flourishing, right relationships and the common good (link to God, Religion and Life).

This content area grapples with the questions, ‘Who ought I be? How must I respond?’

We look forward to a day of planning and sharing of ideas for the development of the unit!

A Year 6 initiative ! ‘Ignite our faith’ in Year 6

In last fortnight’s Newsletter I wrote about a Year 6 initiative called ‘Ignite Our faith’. The program is designed to give the students a chance to meet once a fortnight to explore Scripture, spend some time discussing issues of faith and how they relate to their young lives. The 45 minute session ends with a pizza lunch where the students get a chance to mix informally with the Priests of our Parish.

Twenty students joined in the session led by Fr Julian, Fr Anderson, Ms Bowler and myself. Students discussed a variety of modern day issues and were able to share their thoughts and how they would respond given a certain situation.Group 1 will meet this week for their second session. Well done to the Year 6 students for their engagement in the sessions!!

Have a fabulous fortnight everyone !
