Principal's Message

Mrs. Cassie Lynch

Dear Families,

Welcome to another action packed newsletter with many exciting updates for our parent community. As a school, we love to showcase the things our amazing students are doing.

Swimming

Next week, the Foundation, Grade 1/2G & 2/3S are off to swimming lessons at the Wangaratta Sports & Aquatic Centre. Permission forms have been sent home for this event so please ensure they are returned in order for your child to attend swimming.

In order to ensure all children receive quality lessons, the Foundation and Grade 1's will go together in one group, and the Grade 2's from Mrs. Grant's class along with the 2/3 class will be in another group. This ensures we are keeping the two groups swimming to smaller numbers, ensuring a more quality lesson at the pool.

Foundation & Grade 1: 11.45am - 12.25pm (Departing school at 11.30am via bus)

Grade 2's & Grade 3's (2/3 Sinclair): 12.25pm - 1.05pm (Departing school at 12.10pm via bus)

Children will get changed for swimming here at school, before & after swimming. Please ensure your child has the following items:

  • bathers
  • towel
  • thongs (to wear to and from swimming)
  • bag for wet clothing
  • goggles (if needed)

Students in 3/4WA and the two 5/6 classes will participate in the Swimming Program next term.

Bread

As previously advised, Open Door Neighbourhood house have generously given us the opportunity to receive a crate of bread products when they are available to them.  On the days that we receive a crate they will be available for students/parents to collect (limit of one product per family) from outside in the courtyard area at the end of the school day.

Open Door Neighbourhood house are looking for volunteers to collect the bread from Coles each weekday.  Please see the information on the Important Dates page regarding what's required and contact Open Door if you are able to help out.

Sandhurst Arts on Show

Here are a few snap shots of our Grade 5/6 students performing for Sandhurst Arts on Show.

Our Lady's, along with St. Joseph's Benalla, St. Mary's Rutherglen, St. Patrick's Wangaratta & Galen College were lucky enough to perform at the Wangaratta Performing Arts Centre.

The children have been working with ASPA, Mrs. Malcolm, Mrs. Griffin & Mrs. Hutchinson to perform on stage for Sandhurst Arts on Show. Please enjoy these beautiful pictures taken by CES Ltd.

Athletics Carnival Grade 3-6

This year, we decided to approach our athletics a little differently. In the past, we have teamed up with other schools to compete and have found that our students have been a bit overwhelmed by the experience. This year, under the guidance of Mr. Naish and the 3-6 team, we held our own simplified version of the athletics. From all reports, the student participation rate increased as our students felt the confidence to have a go. Well done to all involved and for our loyal supporters in the crowd.

School Improvement Survey

Just a reminder if you haven't had a chance yet, please complete the ORIMA School Improvement Survey. This survey was emailed to all families directly from my email address. So far of the 69 families in our school, only 6 have completed the survey. It would be really great if you could jump in and spend the time. This data is used to drive school improvement. We would greatly appreciate the support!

End of Term Three

Term Three concludes next Friday September 20th at the earlier time of 2.10pm.

Blessings,
