Principal's Report
The last few weeks have been filled with excitement, both in and out of the College. There is certainly a change in the weather and the brightness of each day. We are also excited about a number of initiatives that are being developed for implementation next year, these of course include our Arts Academy, our Sports Academy and our Year 9 program. Thank you to those families who attended the Year 9 information evening this week; there will be follow up information sent to families in the next week or so. This will summarise the program and the various opportunities for students to be extended in their learning. Our partnership with the University of Melbourne has been pivotal in our decision-making. We know that this University is renowned for its academic rigour and our program is well researched. Our Year 9 Amplify program will provide our students with opportunities to be challenged in their learning, but it will also provide avenues of additional support if needed.
It is with great pleasure that I announce the appointment of Shari Gotch as the new College Leader - Student Wellbeing commencing in 2025.
Shari has held many leadership roles throughout her career, both here at St Joseph's College and in Melbourne. She is deeply committed to our students and staff and has an in-depth understanding of adolescent needs, challenges and development. I would like to congratulate Shari on this appointment and I am confident she will lead us with excellence in the student wellbeing sphere of development.
Together with the Directors of Campus - Jarrod at Kildare and Janelle at Brigidine, we are confident that our student wellbeing will have an improved profile and focus. This does however rely on the support of families. We are fortunate that our students are generally well behaved, but when they are not, we ask for families to support us. This is rarely easy, but it is necessary. Our staff are committed to our students, they know and love them and always want the best possible outcomes, as do our parents and carers, but together we will have a greater level of success.
