6E

By Rebecca Parish

This term, 6E has been exploring storytelling through written narratives, media arts and drama. We looked at how we can create effective characters to tell our story. We explored media elements such as framing, camera shots and angles, colour and sound, and created short films using these elements. Most recently, we have been learning about the elements of drama, including facial expressions, voice, body language, movement and energy. We practiced using our voice though Reader’s Theatre. We had an incursion where we practiced drama elements, then used what we learned to create a short film about a haunted house.

Some students reflected on the recent Drama incursion:

Aishani: I learnt that many popular characters have a signature identity and role. For example, Bluey is known as a children’s TV show and the character portrays a childish manner with lots of excitement that many younger audiences can relate to as well as a happy expression and body language. The tone of the voice is also high pitched making the audience think she is a child.

Kanav: I learned about facial expressions, body language and energy levels to represent your character.

Navya: I learned how to make a character unique and how to make a character have interesting personalities. We learned how to act out characters with using different voices and body language.

Ryan: I learnt how to write a script and lots about characters and their features like body movement.
