Inclusion & Engagement

Invitation to Families

Disability Inclusion is increasing support for students with disability to ensure every student at every ability thrives at school and in life.  Disability Inclusion is being rolled out to all Victorian government schools between 2021-2025, delivering:

  1. A new strengths-based Disability Inclusion Profile
  2. A tiered school funding model
  3. Increased workforce capability to provide inclusive education

The Department have engaged Deloitte Access Economics to undertake an independent evaluation of Disability Inclusion.

As part of this evaluation, Deloitte is conducting a short online survey (no more than 15 minutes) of families in Victorian government schools implementing Disability Inclusion.

The survey aims to capture family awareness and understanding of Disability Inclusion, any adjustments made at a student-level and attitudes towards inclusion of students with disability more generally.

As part of this evaluation, Deloitte is surveying all families with children enrolled in Victorian government schools. This includes families who have children with disabilities and those who do not.

Please note, participation is entirely voluntary, and families are under no obligation to participate. If you wish to provide input, you can complete the survey here: family survey.

School Values

At Miners Rest Primary School we pride ourselves on upholding the school values of Courage, Kindness and Respect. Every single day we see students and staff demonstrating these values in the classroom, outside in the playground and in our everyday activities.

It is important, going into Term Four, that we continue to be mindful of the school values as we go about our daily routines and take time to talk about what each of the values means to each of us.

While we model and demonstrate the values throughout the school day, it is beneficial to discuss them in the home as well. Perhaps ask your child how they demonstrated the school values when they come home from school.  Below is a reminder of how we can all uphold our school values.

Courage

When we refer to Courage, we are talking about making good choices, even if those choices scare us a little. It's another term for bravery, but remember, bravery doesn't mean being fearless. It means we do not let fear hold us back from exploring new opportunities, developing our skills, and doing what is right.

Kindness

Kindness, is the quality of being friendly, generous and considerate towards others.  It is something that anyone and everyone can show in their own ways.

Respect

When we talk about the school value of Respect, we are referring to how we treat people, our school and our belongings. It means showing regard for other people’s abilities and worth, valuing their feelings and their views, even if you don’t necessarily agree with them. It means accepting them as they are and treating them as you would like to be treated.
