Principal's Report

We, at Miners Rest Primary School, would like to acknowledge the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation.

We pay our respects and thank the Wadawurrung people.

May we share your land. We promise to look after it, as well as the animals and people too.

Welcome back!

A big welcome back to all of our families - we look forward to engaging with you throughout the final term of the year. There are lots of opportunities coming up on the calendar for our families to join us as we make our way through this term. Keep up to date with these events through the newsletter and our Miners Rest Kindergarten and School Facebook Page.

Communication

As a school and kindergarten, we strive to support our families through timely and responsiveness communication practices. As the school Principal and kindergarten Director, I welcome feedback, complaints, concerns, queries and celebrations always.

The best way to make contact with me is via the school telephone number, the school email address or popping into the administration office to speak with me directly, or make an appointment if I am unavailable. As families and members of our school community, please don't hesitate to contact me whenever you need. When I am aware of a need, I can certainly take the right action to address it.

Respectful Relationships

Respectful Relationships education is a core component of the Victorian Curriculum from Foundation to Year 12. It is all about embedding a culture of respect and equality across the entire school community.

The Respectful Relationships program supports schools and early childhood settings to promote and model respect, positive attitudes and behaviours. It teaches our children how to build healthy relationships, resilience and confidence.

To support families in understanding the content that we teach at Miners Rest Primary School in Respectful Relationships, our teachers are developing an overview that outlines each lesson across the term. This information will be provided to families on Friday afternoon via email through the Sentral platform. Upon receiving this information, parents are welcome to seek any further clarification/discussion with your child/ren's classroom teacher.

PFA

As we commence a very busy and exciting term to end the year, I wanted to take the opportunity to acknowledge our very valued Parents & Friends Association and thank them for the important work that they do to support all of the students in our school. With the Mother's and Father's Day Stalls, the purchase of sporting equipment and playground equipment and the provision of trestle tables to support Family Maths Night, Graduation, the Art Show and so much more! Thank you PFA for your tireless support of our kindergarten and school!

Assembly

We look forward to seeing lots of family and friends at our school assembly on Friday at 2:30 pm.

Enjoy the sunshine,

Kylie Nissen.
