Whole School Activities

Assembly

Thank you to everyone who came along to join with us at our final assembly for the term. All of our students participated in our assembly showcasing their work and entertaining us with their fabulous version of 'The Graveyard'.  Congratulations to our long list of award winners on your achievements.

Please note: Our next assembly will be on Friday 8th November (Week 4, Term 4).

Tie Dyeing Activity

Rocky River have been invited to participate in the Thunderbolt Festival march in October so we have been busy working on some colourful shirts to wear fitting in with the 'Loud Shirts and Hula Skirts' theme. Upper and Lower Division decorated shirts using Tie Dye which was great fun. We were able to show the results at our assembly and were very happy with how they turned out.

International Day of Sign Languages

We were pleased to hear from Mrs Hahn, who sent us some Auslan resources, an update on her activities and a personalised message in celebration of International Day of Sign Languages on Monday 23rd September. The students enjoyed engaging in some additional Auslan activities.

STEM

Lower Division had a great time learning about building structures in our STEM lessons with Mr Jacobs. We used chickpeas and toothpicks to made some 2D shapes that we then turned into 3D structures. Congratulations to Waiviou, whose structure held the most books and well done to the whole class, showcasing creative and critical thinking.

Upper Division students explored the concept of algebra and created battleship boards to use coordinates in locating a specific location, out of sight.

Lower Division Maths

Lower Division have been working on how we can arrange and group items so we can quickly and accurately determine quantities and also show a number sentence for our observations. We have worked on arrays quite a bit this term and some of our results are shown below - well done Lower Division.

Stage 3 Robotic Coding Day

Our Stage 3 students had a brilliant time at Kingstown today with fellow students from Kentucky, in preparation for a future robotics coding championship. Our students experimented with coding Lego Spike Prime Robots and EV3 robots - we were so impressed to see the creative sequences our students came up with! The communicating, reasoning and justifying heard within the group challenges were just phenomenal! Thank you to the fabulous Kingstown staff and students for sharing their knowledge with us and providing exciting challenges which tested our skills.
