Wellbeing Report
SUPER
STRENGTHS
At our school, we believe in the power of character strengths to shape our community and help each student shine. Character strengths are the positive qualities that influence how we think, feel, and behave. By focusing on these strengths, we can support each other in becoming the best versions of ourselves.
This fortnight our Super Strength is HONESTY. Honesty is about being truthful in what we say and do. It helps build trust with those around us, creating a safe and supportive environment for everyone.
Honesty also means being true to ourselves. It’s about acknowledging our strengths and weaknesses, admitting when we make mistakes, and taking responsibility for our actions. When we’re honest with ourselves, we can better understand our needs and aspirations, allowing us to make positive changes and reach our goals.
In the classroom, honesty is essential. It helps create a space where everyone feels respected and valued, knowing that their ideas and feelings will be met with sincerity. It’s the foundation for strong friendships, teamwork, and collaboration. When students, teachers, staff and families practice honesty, it leads to a more positive and inclusive school culture.
Let’s celebrate and practice honesty in our school every day—by speaking truthfully, being fair, and showing respect for others. By embracing this character strength, we can make our school a place where trust and kindness thrive.
Wellbeing Day Success!
On Thursday, 12th September, our school celebrated Wellbeing Day with the theme "Mental Health Matters," coinciding with RUOK? Day. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to focus on the importance of mental health, and they looked fantastic dressed as different emotions!
The day was filled with engaging workshops that centered around social, mental, and physical wellbeing. Here are some of the highlights:
- Mindfulness and Deep Breathing: Our prep students explored mindfulness through bubble making and blowing, learning how deep breathing can help us feel calm and focused.
- Gratitude and 'Bucket Fillers': Grade 2 students discovered the power of gratitude and how to be 'bucket fillers,' spreading kindness and positivity among their peers.
- Healthy Eating: Our Grade 5 students got hands-on in the school kitchen, where they learned about the importance of healthy eating and even made nutritious protein balls!
- Building an Inclusive School: Grade 6 students participated in a special workshop led by Ridmi from the Centre for Multicultural Youth. They discussed how each of us has the power to make everyone feel like they belong, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity.
We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who made this day possible:
- Woolworths: Your generous donation of fresh fruit was greatly appreciated.
- Centre for Multicultural Youth and Bike'n'Blend: Thank you for enriching our workshops and making the day even more memorable!
However, our most special thanks go out to our incredible staff at Lyndhurst Primary School. Your dedication, creativity, and enthusiasm in running sensational workshops truly made the day unforgettable.
Wellbeing Day was a fantastic success, and it truly highlighted how much "Mental Health Matters" to our entire school community.
