Amazing Race Excursion in the CBD

VCE-VM Numeracy News

Twenty students headed into the city in the last week of Term 3 for our Amazing Race excursion, and the day didn’t disappoint. We caught the tram into Melbourne’s CBD and, with the weather holding up, set off to complete a series of challenges spread across seven different locations.

Starting at Flinders Street Station, groups received their first clue before moving across to Federation Square. From there, the race took them through some of Melbourne’s most recognisable spots, including Hosier Lane, Chinatown, the State Library of Victoria, Royal Arcade and, finally, Melbourne Town Hall. Each stop brought a new task that required teamwork, problem-solving and plenty of energy.

Students threw themselves into the activities and worked really well together. It was great to see them encourage each other and come up with creative ways to tackle each challenge. The race also gave everyone a chance to notice things about the city they might normally walk straight past.

One of the best parts of the day was how well the students carried themselves. On the tram, in the laneways and in busy public spaces, they were respectful and considerate. They really did the school proud.

The Amazing Race was not just fun but also a great way to build teamwork and communication skills in a different environment. It was a day full of energy, laughter, and new experiences that students will remember for a long time.
