Grade 5/6

Welcome to Term Four (the last term of primary school for our Grade Six students!).

What a busy beginning to the term we have had! The Grade 5/6s have busily planned and ran our PJ Day fundraiser, making popcorn and Milos to sell across the school. Thank you to our dedicated students for their responsibility and respect throughout this process. We thank our school for supporting this fundraiser- together we raised $182 for our Grade 6 Day Out!!

In class, we are continuing our whole class text, 'Rivet Boy', which we are getting closer to finishing! Students continue to discuss comprehension questions and make predictions about what will happen next, and we are beginning to analyse literary techniques used throughout the novel. Within Mathematics, students have extended their knowledge of decimals, fractions and percentages. We will start to explore percentage discounts and other financial problems involving percentages, such as calculating interest earnt. Please encourage your child to explore this content in everyday contexts, such as when shopping and determining the cost of an item on sale! 

History has seen us explore Australian federation, and in Science we have begun our unit on chemical sciences, which saw us explore states of matter as solids, liquids and gases. We cannot wait for a term action packed full of science experiments!

The countdown to graduation is on-- thank you to all families who have provided their ideal guest list to me! We cannot wait to celebrate this milestone with you all!
