The town is abuzz as word has spread quickly about our upcoming school concert.  Get ready for a toe-tapping, heartwarming musical journey as our students take the stage for Grandpa’s Magical Music Adventure! Join us at the Capital Theatre on Wednesday 19th November for two spectacular shows — a 12pm Matinee and a 6:30pm Evening Performance.

St Monica's will bus students down for the matinee performance with parents / carers asked to bring students to the Capital for the 6:30pm session.  The night session will also be videoed.  It would be wonderful to see all students at both performances and we appreciate parent support with this.

Tickets on sale now via the Capital Theatre website  (search St Monica's) —with nearly 50% of the tickets sold in the first two days, don’t miss out on what promises to be a magical celebration of music, creativity, and fun!

Bendigo Cup Public Holiday

A reminder that Wednesday 29th October is a public holiday and the school will be closed for Bendigo Cup.

2026 Grade Structure:

We are pleased to announce our class structure for 2026.

  • 2 x Foundation
  • 2 x Grade 1
  • 2 x Grade 2
  • 2 x Grade 3
  • 2 x Grade 4
  • 4 x Grade 5/6

We currently operate with a mix of multi-age and straight grade levels. Our goal is to transition to fully straight grade structures in the coming years, subject to enrolment numbers.

As we begin planning for the 2026 school year, we will soon be working on student placements. If you have specific requests regarding your child’s placement for 2026, please submit these in writing to the Principal by Thursday, 30 October. Requests should focus on your child’s particular learning, social, or emotional needs.

While we will do our best to consider all requests received by the due date, it becomes increasingly difficult to make adjustments after this time, as one change can impact the dynamics of an entire class. We also remind families that requests for specific teachers or teacher gender will not be considered.

Our teachers invest significant time and professional judgment into this complex process, ensuring that each student is placed in an environment that best supports their learning and wellbeing.

If your family is not returning in 2026, could you please let the school office know so we can begin planning for the new school year.

We have received many reports from our school crossing supervisors that unfortunately children are not dismounting from their bikes before using the school crossings. We ask if families could please remind children to dismount from their bikes on approaching the crossing as it allows them to pause and proceed with caution while using the crossing safely with their school crossing supervisor.

Many children are riding through crossings leaving little time for school crossing supervisors and drivers to react, placing themselves in unnecessary danger. We remind the school community that being safe around the school is everyone’s responsibility and to teach children to remain alert and focus on their surroundings when using the school crossing.

Many thanks
