Positive Learning Routine
Congratulations to 5D and 2C on being awarded the Positive Learning Routines trophies. These classes received the most nominations from our staff for demonstrating our Positive Learning Routines to a high standard. Both classes will receive a special prize negotiated with their classroom teacher.
At Hazel Glen, routines are an important part of helping students feel safe, organised, and ready to learn each day. When students know what to expect, they can focus more on their learning and feel more confident at school. Consistent routines at our College help build responsibility and support positive learning habits.
Hats
As we move through Term 4 and enjoy the warmer weather, we remind all families that we are a SunSmart School and are committed to promoting sun safety. Students are required to wear their Hazel Glen bucket hat when outdoors during playtimes, sports, and other activities. Please ensure your child has their hat at school each day, clearly labelled with their name. If students do not bring their hats to school, yard duty teachers will ask them to sit in a shaded area, such as the Learning Neighbourhood alcoves or near the portables, during outdoor play. This ensures they stay protected from the sun while still being able to enjoy their breaks safely.
Kids First
Our Kids First All About Safety program continues this term with our Year 2, 3, and 4 cohorts. Feedback from staff and students has been overwhelmingly positive, with everyone finding the program a valuable learning experience. Students are developing their skills in recognising safe and unsafe situations, help-seeking, and identifying feelings and emotions. The program concludes with an engaging activity, the Pie Face Game, which focuses on exploring feelings associated with being nervous or scared. The Kids First facilitators have praised the exceptional behaviour of our students, noting how well they display the College values and their eagerness to learn. We are very proud of all our students who have participated in this program and look forward to continuing our partnership with the Kids First organisation in the years ahead.
2026 Year 6
Our Year 5 cohort has been busy preparing speeches and applications for the 2026 leadership positions. We would like to congratulate all students who presented their speeches, whether in class or at the cohort assembly in Week 5. With so many Year 5 students putting themselves forward for leadership, we know the Primary Years will have some amazing role models leading the way in 2026 as the Year 6 cohort. Even if students were not successful in being selected for a formal leadership position, they will still play an important role as leaders within the Primary Years, setting a positive example for younger students through their actions, attitude, and teamwork. We are excited to see this wonderful group of students continue to grow, make a positive impact, and lead the way across the Primary Years in 2026.
Christmas Carols 2026
This is a save the date for our Christmas Carols on Monday, 15th December, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. We invite all families to join us on the Primary Years Oval to celebrate the end of the College year and enjoy class performances from Kinder to Year 6. More information about the logistics of the evening will be posted on Compass closer to the date. We look forward to seeing you all there and celebrating together as a College community.
