Year 10 Colour Craze Music Festival: A Celebration of Youth, Colour, and Community

This month, the Youth Changemakers, a Hobsons Bay Council–organised program, successfully hosted the vibrant Colour Craze Music Festival. The event was the culmination of months of meetings, planning, and collaboration.

The Youth Changemakers team comprised six passionate Year 10 students — Nivedya, Mena, Nahtaan, Eli, Oliver, and Jaismin. The initiative was designed to help young leaders develop skills in teamwork, public speaking, and community engagement through a series of workshops run by Youth Services.

A special thank you goes to Emma Loe, whose guidance, enthusiasm, and support with funding and logistics were instrumental in bringing the event to life. Her dedication ensured that every detail came together perfectly.

The Colour Craze Festival was two hours of sunshine, laughter, and creativity. The air was filled with music, colour, and joy as students enjoyed live performances from an alumni band, current Paisley bands, and a DJ. The event truly lived up to its name — a celebration of colour and sound.

Festival-goers enjoyed free sausage sizzles, soft drinks, and icy poles, along with ice cream trucks to keep everyone cool in the warm weather. Activities such as nail-painting stations, giant Connect Four and chess, face painting, and a photo booth added to the fun. As the afternoon drew to a close, the dance floor came alive with the Macarena and the Nutbush, bringing everyone together for one final burst of energy and laughter.

The Youth Changemakers would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all the organisations that supported the event, including Latitude, The Zone, Youth Foundations, Foundation House, Hobsons Bay Youth Services and SRC volunteers and teachers.

The Paisley Bayside Youth Changemakers set out to create a carefree, colourful, and music-filled afternoon — and thanks to the unwavering support of so many, the 2025 Colour Craze Music Festival was a resounding success.

Thanks Niv & the team.

Year 10 Queensland Camp Wrap Up

In the last week of term three, 30 students and three staff flew to the Gold Coast for our Year 10 Queensland Camp.

After arriving via Coolangatta airport, we stopped off at Cavill Avenue in Surfers Paradise via coach for some shopping and sightseeing before settling in at the incredible Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre for our accommodation. Day two included a trip to Movie World! Students enjoyed the many rides on offer, the DC Hyper Coaster being the highlight for many. Day three involved a trip to Wet 'n' Wild. The weather was perfect for a day of slipping and sliding around the water slides and rides. Our whirlwind trip then concluded on day four with a visit to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary on the way back to the airport.

Everyone loved walking around, taking in the sights of nature and seeing some amazing animals including Wedge-Tailed Eagles, Crocodiles, and even hand feeding Kangaroos!

This is a trip not to be missed for Year 10's in 2026.
