Principal, Ms Alex Montgomery

We have had a fantastic start to Term 4, with students quickly settling into their routines and engaging positively in learning. It’s wonderful to see their focus, enthusiasm, and participation as we approach the final term of the year.

As you are aware, we started our lunch trial this term, and it has been very positive. Parents were updated at the end of last term about the changes, as lunch was moved to first break (11:10–11:40 am), with 20 minutes of play followed by 10 minutes to eat. Recess is held from (1:40–2:10 pm). The canteen continues to serve food during lunch, and students who are still finishing can take it with them to class.

We would like to thank our amazing canteen team for their flexibility and for refining their processes to support this new routine — a special thank you to Jen and Kristina for their dedication and hard work in making this a smooth transition for our students.

Reminder: Parents, please ensure your child knows if they have a recess order for the day so they can collect it during the break.

Celebrating World Teachers' Day Next Week - Friday 31 October 2025

On 31 October, we will celebrate World Teachers’ Day and recognise the incredible teachers at Edgeworth Public School. This year’s theme is “GEMS”, because our teachers truly are the gems of our school community!

Every day, they shine by showing dedication, care, and commitment, creating engaging and supportive learning environments for our students. We encourage parents and students to take a moment to thank their teachers for their hard work and for making a difference.

We look forward to celebrating and acknowledging these wonderful gems on 31 October!

Kindergarten Transition 2026

As part of our Kindergarten transition program, I have had the privilege of meeting with each new student and their parents for next year. These interviews are always a highlight of my day, providing the opportunity to welcome families into our school community and get to know our newest learners.

Every Steps Count Program

We are pleased to invite all parents to an information session on the Every Step Counts program—an initiative by the NSW Department of Education designed to support every student to learn, grow, and feel included in a safe and fair education environment.

About the Program: Every Step Counts aligns closely with social and emotional learning, aiming to:

  • Support students in developing a positive and confident self-image

  • Reduce “violence-supportive” attitudes and behaviours, ensuring violence is never normalised
  • Improve student behaviour and encourage positive decision-making

About the Workshops:

  • Positive, trauma-informed, and age-appropriate
  • Provide a safe space for student voice and advocacy
  • Cover topics including road safety, passenger safety, and speed awareness

The program has been successfully running in NSW Public Schools for 15 years, all content aligns with DoE syllabi, and the videos and materials are endorsed by the Department of Education.
