Year 1/2

We hope everyone is feeling refreshed after the long weekend!
Last week, Year 1/2 explored social and emotional learning (SEL) by meeting "Wibbly Wobbly," a character who struggles with expressing feelings like nervousness, hopelessness, anger, and frustration, which can lead to stress. We discussed the body's warning signs of stress, such as butterflies in the stomach, clenched jaws, or headaches. Students then brainstormed helpful coping strategies for Wibbly Wobbly, including box breathing, taking breaks, cuddling a toy, drinking water, and talking to a trusted adult or yard duty teacher.
It was a valuable learning experience!
At home, consider discussing "Wibbly Wobbly" feelings with your child and the strategies they can use at home and school.
Stress is normal. While some stress, like time constraints or trying new things, can be positive and help us grow, we want to distinguish between positive and negative stress and learn how to manage it effectively. This will help us all thrive.
