International Women's Day Celebration

Recently, Bonnyrigg High School held a special event to celebrate International Women's Day, highlighting the achievements and contributions of women worldwide. The event featured guest speakers, student presentations and performances that focused on gender equality, empowerment and inspiring stories of women breaking barriers.

Students and staff engaged in thoughtful discussions and activities aimed at raising awareness about the importance of supporting women in all aspects of life. The event was a powerful reminder of the ongoing efforts needed to create a more inclusive and equitable world for all.

A few of the activities that we got to enjoy were bracelet making with a wide range of colourful beads and vision board making to help motivate us and plan for the future. However, the most inspiring part was being able to meet significant female figures in society such as Dai Le, Charishma Kaliyanda and many more.

Throughout the event, all participating schools and guests were able to learn about the struggles women in the past faced and how understanding your identity and self value is vital in the modern world that we live in. Every person had a strong takeaway of knowledge about discrimination faced by females throughout history, educating and spreading awareness to adolescents.

The hard work of the SRC, helpful students and teachers of Bonnyrigg High School was clear, with their thorough planning which made that day possible.

Overall, this was an extremely entertaining time that Diana and I enjoyed. We look forward to more events like this!
