Around The School

MEDIA ARTS: An introduction in the Junior School.
Through Media Arts, children develop creativity, storytelling skills, and an awareness of how media influences the way we see the world.
This term students are exploring how to use iPads to tell a simple story about their favourite place at school.
Junior School Excursion
On Wednesday the Junior students were very excited to take part in a bus tour of Ballarat. For some of our Foundation students it was their very first time on a bus!
The students toured around Ballarat with their very own 'tour guides' (thankyou teachers!) spotting significant places that link with our unit on geography.
We toured past Her Majesty's Theatre, the Art Gallery, Town Hall, the Arch of Victory and the Main Road Mural to name just a few but a highlight of the tour was getting off to explore the Botanical Gardens. The begonias were spectacular and we were lucky enough to go inside the glasshouse to get a really close look at the beautiful flowers.
We finished our tour at the Vic Park playground where we had our lunch and a play.
What a fun day!!
St Patrick’s Primary Ballarat School Choir
On Sunday 2nd March members of our school choir were privileged to join choir members from Lumen Christi Catholic School, Delacome, and Siena Catholic Primary School, Lucas in a fund-raising concert. Our venue was the wonderful new Performing Arts Centre at St Patrick’s College. Performing as the Ballarat Combined Choirs, we joined the Choir of Hard Knocks to perform upbeat songs in order to raise funds for both the Choir of Hard Knocks and the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Centre. We performed four songs, then watched the Choir of Hard Knocks perform a 40 minute set. Lastly we joined the choir of Hard Knocks to perform another two songs to finish the concert. It was a wonderful experience and we hope to join with the choirs from other Ballarat Catholic Schools later in the year in similar ways. A big thank you to: Jim Waight from our governing body, DOBCEL, for bringing this concert together as part of his fundraising for cancer research; to the Choir of Hard Knocks and their support staff; to the amazing team at SPC; to the dedicated staff from all three primary schools, and; to the choir members and their parents.

Calm Kids Play Space
Starting this week, we're excited to introduce a new supervised, indoor play space on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during lunchtime. This calm, quiet area is designed for children to engage in activities like colouring, board games, Lego building, puzzles, and imaginative play.
This initiative aims to meet the diverse needs of all our students.
If you have any unused Lego at home donations would be welcome and greatly appreciated!
