Grade 5

Reading

We are excited to continue our journey through the novel War Horse in literacy. The students have become deeply engaged in the story, following the adventures of Joey, the horse, and his bond with his owner. As we read, students have been practicing creating complex sentences using subordinate clauses, adding depth and detail to their writing. It's been wonderful to see how the text has inspired their thinking and writing skills, making connections to both the characters and the events in the story.

Maths

In math, we have been focusing on multiplication and division. The students are working hard to improve their understanding of these concepts and are getting more comfortable showing their remainders in different ways. We’ve also introduced the use of fractional remainders, and students are exploring how to represent and solve these problems with confidence. It’s been impressive to see their problem-solving strategies evolve.

Settling In

The Grade 5 students have been settling in wonderfully, forming new friendships, and getting to know their classmates and teachers. There is a real sense of community developing within our grade, with students showing great teamwork and support for one another. We are so proud of the positive and welcoming atmosphere that is growing each day.
