Grade 2

Hello Year 2 Families,

It’s been another exciting fortnight in Year 2! Here’s a quick update on what we’ve been up to:

In Writing, we’ve been continuing our work on writing recounts. The students are learning how to retell events in the correct sequence, using clear and detailed sentences. They are making great progress, and we’ve seen some fantastic recounts already!

In Maths, we've been focusing on Place Value, exploring how numbers are made up of hundreds, tens and ones. We’ve also been practicing comparing numbers using greater than and less than symbols, and the students are mastering these concepts beautifully.

Our InitiaLit program continues to be a hit with the students, who are enjoying learning about sounds and grammar. They are getting stronger at identifying different sounds in words and applying their knowledge to read and write confidently.

This week, the students took part in their very first PMP (Perceptual Motor Program) session! It was a fun-filled and active time where the children worked on their coordination, balance, and motor skills. The excitement in the room was infectious!

We also got to see a glimpse into the past during Integrated where our students brought in an artefact that is special to them and their families.

We’re looking forward to a great rest of the term!

Warm regards, The Year 2 Team
