Lenton Season -  Week 3

Good afternoon everyone.

Unfortunately there is gastro making its way around the school community.  Please be aware that if your child says they are unwell, chances are they might be 'coming down' with gastro.    Parents, if your child has been vomiting or has diarrhoea, or complains of feeling sick, please keep them home.  Children must stay home until it has been 24hours (preferably 48hours) since their last episode.  We want to keep our school community safe.  Please be respectful when considering  sending unwell children to school.  It is best to keep them home as they won't be at their best for learning and can put other students and their families and teachers at risk of becoming sick.

Today was school photo day.  Please don't stress if you forgot to order photos.  You can still do so via their website. Please see the school photo page in this bulletin for details.

If you paid for photos but your child was absent, please contact AdvanceLife Photos directly for a refund.

This week was Harmony Week with Harmony day being today.  It was nice to see a touch of orange around the school.  This is an annual celebration to celebrate Australia as one of the most successful multicultural societies in the world. It is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background.  Orange is the colour chosen to represent Harmony Week. Traditionally, orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect.

On Wednesday the gr 3 - 6 students finished a 4 week athletic program with Denis Huffer. Denis has been coming to St Laurence's for many years now to do these sessions.  When he departed he expressed how delightful it is to come to St Laurence's to work with our students and on their fantastic behaviour and manners.   We are pleased to say that our students get these compliments everywhere we go.  Another example of the school community and families living our school motto, 'Love In Action'.

Next week we look forward to the 3-6 Athletic House Sports. Children will head off to the Leongatha velodrome for this fun day of athletics events.  It would be wonderful to see everyone supporting their team and 'having a go' and having fun.   Parents are welcome to come and cheer on the students. Please submit permission for students to attend this event.  Also, check that the medical profiles are up to date as this will be the information that we will use in the event of an emergency on the day.

Students from all classes will play an integral part in the story of Jesus’ last days of life on earth which will be enacted in the gymnasium.  At the start of Lent we sent home Project Compassion boxes to each family.  By placing money into the box throughout Lent we help raise funds to support vulnerable communities around the world. We invite you to bring your Project Compassion box contribution/s along to school before the end of term.
