Year Four - Spotlight on Learning
Jericho Community
Dear Families,
Students are now over the halfway mark and they have been active in their learning and growing their understanding across the curriculum. It has been great to see students embrace challenges within their learning and turn it into an opportunity to improve.
All Year Four classes began a new daily addition to the morning routine that consists of students filling in a 'morning check-in' Google form to inform their teacher about how they are feeling, what breakfast they are having and how much they are sleeping. Students can share whether they are feeling safe at school and at home, and if there is anything they may need to talk about. This is to ensure that all students feel safe and are ready to learn.
Religious Education Focus
Students will be learning about Caritas and how it upholds the dignity of the human person. They will also delve into the values that make a community special such as respect, inclusion and love.
English Focus
We will be starting our new classroom novel "Leo and Ralph" and continuing our vocabulary work, sentence writing and learning about Greek etymology and the morpheme 'bi'. Students will also begin their new writing focus in the narrative genre.
Mathematics Focus
Students will continue exploring multiplication and division facts for nine, number sequences for multiples of 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9, multiplying and dividing by powers of 10 as well as multiples of 10.
Integrated Studies
We will be investigating different Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' symbols and how they communicate through their artwork.
Social/ Emotional Learning & RRRR
Students will be looking into using strengths to show respect, what respect means, how we can show respect to others and the importance of respect.
Auslan Focus
Students will be continuing with unit 2 and learning signs such as 'Please look (at me), look at that, look at each other and come here'.
