UPDATE - Composting Project @ St Thomas the Apostle Primary School

At St Thomas the Apostle, we are listening to the leadership of Pope Francis and his call to be good stewards of our earthly home. As shared last week, we have begun an exciting new composting project at our school, taking small but meaningful steps toward sustainability.

Composting food waste is not just an environmentally responsible practice—it’s a way to live out Catholic Social Teaching. By supporting our composting initiative, our learners will help care for God's creation, promote sustainability, and work towards a just world for future generations.

We have been very lucky to receive donated buckets from the very delicious Pasadena Charcoal Chicken across the road, allowing us to begin daily collections of food waste in Year Six.

However, to expand our efforts across all year levels, we need your help! If you have any spare buckets that you could donate, we would love to receive them to support our composting initiative.

Composting reduces landfill waste, enriches soil, and supports a culture of care that Pope Francis calls us to embrace. Every contribution helps us grow this project, educate our students, and create a more sustainable future.

Together, we can care for our planet and foster a greener, more just world!
