Celebrate Harmony Day with us on Friday 21st  March– Everyone Belongs!

Harmony Day is a special occasion that brings Australians together to celebrate our nation’s rich cultural diversity. Held during Harmony Week, this event is a time to embrace inclusiveness, respect, and a shared sense of belonging.

What is Harmony Week?

Harmony Week recognises and celebrates Australia’s diverse backgrounds. It reminds us that our differences make our nation a vibrant and unique place to live.

Did You Know?

  • Over 51.5% of Australian residents were born overseas or have at least one parent who was.
  • Since 1945, more than 7.6 million people have migrated to Australia.
  • Nearly every country in the world is represented in Australia’s population.
  • Over 150 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages are spoken across the country.
  • Other than English, the most common languages spoken in Australia include Mandarin, Arabic, Vietnamese, Cantonese, and Punjabi.
  • Australians identify with more than 300 different ancestries.

How Do We Celebrate at St Thomas?

At school, we celebrate Harmony Day in many ways. As a whole community we are invited to wear a touch of orange, the official colour of Harmony Week, to show support for inclusiveness on Friday 21st March.

By celebrating Harmony Day, we acknowledge that everyone belongs. Let’s take this opportunity to appreciate our differences, respect one another, and build a stronger, more inclusive Australia.

Join us in celebrating – because together, we make Australia a great place to live.

Looking forward to seeing little splashes of orange next Friday!
