Intermediate Boys Cricket
On Thursday February 20th the Intermediate Boys Cricket team took part in the Greater Dandenong District competition at Greaves Reserve in Dandenong.
Our first game was against Noble Park. We won the toss and batted first and amassed a score of 2/111 from our 10 overs. Our top scorers were; Omid A 55 ret. Mohammad A 29 and Bhavesh I 20.
Noble Park never really got started in their run chase due to some very tight bowling which gave them no real opportunities to score. We restricted them to 6/26 from their 10 overs.
Our best bowlers were Omid A 3/10 Abdulrasheed Z 1/4 and Sail Z 1/5.
After Lyndale beat Noble Park, our game against Lyndale SC was essentially the final to determine the district champions.
Winning the toss we chose to bowl first. After some excellent bowling in the first 5 overs Lyndale found it very hard to score (Mohammad A 1/2 and Matiullah K 3/6) but a few loose overs got them back on track and it looked like they might post a huge total. We managed to gain control again (Bhavesh I 2/5) and restricted them to 8/75 from their allotted 12 overs.
Our run chase started shakily after losing and early wicket but a great second wicket partnership (Abdulrasheed Z 41 ret. Mohammad A 12) got us back on track. We passed Lyndale's total with 2 overs to spare (3/78) meaning Dandenong HS are the Greater Dandenong District Intermediate Cricket champions for 2025.
It was a great team effort. Our fielding and bowling in both games was so consistent and enthusiastic that our opposition never really challenged or built scores that would beat us.
We now move on to the Southern Metro Regional Finals which will take place in October.
Well done, boys!

2025 GDD Senior Cricket Report
Thursday 13 February saw Dandenong HS compete in the Greater Dandenong District Senior Cricket competition. Given the number of teams in the competition and the extremely hot weather, this was going to be a test of endurance as much as a test of skill and ability.
Our first game against Minaret College started questionably with Minaret scoring freely from some wayward bowling but the first wicket slowed the Minaret run-rate. Their next partnership gathered momentum and looked like setting us a huge target but an unexpected wicket all but halted the scoring leaving us a target of 125 from 12 overs.
On a very fast ground this was very gettable. We started slowly but surely and after 6 overs our run rate was at 6, just a bit behind the required 8 but, with plenty of wickets in hand we were setting ourselves. Atal M controlled the innings perfectly scoring an unbeaten 82 with able support from Gawher G (14) and some other small cameos as we reached the target with 9 balls to spare. Into the final we go!
SEDA had disposed of Keysborough and Lyndale in the other group matches and were our opponent in the final.
Batting first, SEDA got off to a flying start scoring 60 from the first 5 overs and a huge run chase looked likely but, as is often the case, a wicket slows the progress. What looked like a chase of possibly 140 was restricted to 108 even after a costly 19 run last over. Forzarn N was the pick of the bowlers with 1/5
Unfortunately our batsmen never really got stated and credit to SEDA , their tight bowling and shrewd field placements never allowed us to get going. Some costly dismissals and a key run out never allowed any significant partnerships to grow and we finished on 7/65, well short of our required 109.
Thanks for a great day gentlemen. It was true test of your persistence and desire that you fought so hard in very difficult conditions.
