We are thrilled to welcome our new Year 7 students to Junior School! This marks an exciting transition as they embark on their high school journey. Our Year 7 students have already shown great enthusiasm and adaptability, making them a wonderful addition to our school community.
PAT Testing and NAPLAN
Our Year 7 students have recently completed the Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT), which provide valuable insights into their academic strengths and areas for improvement. This data helps us tailor our teaching strategies to meet each student's needs.
Additionally, both Year 7 and Year 9 students are gearing up for the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). The NAPLAN test window for 2025 is scheduled from March 12th to March 17th. During this period, students will be assessed in reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, grammar, punctuation) and numeracy. It is essential that students come to school with a fully charged device to complete the online assessments.
Parents who do not wish for their child to participate in NAPLAN or who have special requirements can contact Ashleigh Hudson (Ashleigh.hudson@education.vic.gov.au) on 94660900 for further assistance.
Introduction of Our New Lesson Model
The Reservoir High School's Lesson Model has been introduced to all students and staff. It has been designed to create a dynamic and student-centered learning environment that adapts to the needs of every learner.
The model consists of five key components:
It emphasises student-focused work time and allows for flexibility, as sections can be revisited and integrated throughout the lesson.
This lesson model aims to enhance academic achievement and support the overall wellbeing of our students. A structured lesson model provides a consistent and effective framework for teaching and learning, ensuring that each lesson is purposeful, engaging and tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students.
More work will be undertaken to implement the Lesson Model with students and staff as the year progresses.
