Hi everyone, my name is Chloe Thomas, and I’ve had the pleasure of working at this wonderful OSHC service for the past four years. It’s been such an enriching experience, and I’ve truly enjoyed building meaningful relationships with your children. Watching them grow and develop over the years has been such a rewarding part of my role.
One of my favourite things to do with the children is playing fun games of Red Rover, umpiring exciting cricket matches, and attempting to draw each other in silly and creative ways. But what I cherish most about working at OSHC is the opportunity to guide the students as they grow into kind, empathetic, and respectful citizens. It’s been amazing seeing them develop a strong sense of independence, especially the younger students, who are becoming increasingly organised and ready for their time at OSHC.
Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve been focusing on Harmony Day, which is celebrated annually on March 21st. It’s a day dedicated to celebrating the cultural diversity in our communities, promoting inclusivity, and recognising the importance of understanding and respecting one another. The children have had some incredible discussions about different cultures and traditions, and it’s been heartwarming to hear them express the value of diversity and how they look up to people who celebrate different backgrounds. It’s truly a day to reflect on how we can all contribute to making our community more inclusive, and it’s been wonderful seeing the students embrace these important values.
Recently, it’s been a bit challenging for us, as we’ve had to adjust to not having access to the activity room. In the meantime, we’ve been using the library for our indoor activities. While the library is a much more restrictive space, the children have been absolutely fantastic in adapting and finding new ways to make the most of it. They’ve been creative in how they use the space, and their positive attitudes have made it easier for everyone to stay engaged and have fun.
At OSHC, we are committed to making sure that every child feels safe, valued, and happy. We aim to provide a space where they can express themselves, build strong relationships with others, and have a great time while learning important values.
Looking ahead, I’m excited for the next couple of weeks and the chance to continue fostering inclusivity through more Harmony Day activities. It’s going to be a lot of fun, and I’m so grateful to be a part of these children’s journeys.
Looking forward to seeing you all around soon!
Chloe Thomas :)
