Our Preps from both campuses had a wild time exploring Wings Wildlife Park together. A perfect day of learning, laughter, and making memories in nature!

Combined Kinder Excursion

Kinder students from both campuses spent a fabulous day actively exploring the different types of TRANSPORT around our area on 5 September. They began their adventure by riding a BUS to Devonport, followed by a bumpy TRAIN ride at the Don River Railway. Next, they used their own legs as transport, running around the Bluff playground. As we drove past the port of Devonport, they spotted small BOATS, the Spirit of Tasmania, and an old wooden SHIP named the Julie Burgess. To wrap up the excursion, the students visited the airport and watched a PLANE land.

This hands-on experience helped students connect classroom learning to real-life transport systems, sparking curiosity and reinforcing their understanding through exploration. By engaging with their local environment, they built meaningful connections between what they learn and the world around them.

With the holidays just around the corner, your children might be spending more time online for entertainment and to connect with their friends. As a parent or carer, you can help them have safe and positive experiences online. Have a conversation with your child today about how to stay safe online and to deal with online safety issues like cyberbullying, inappropriate content or unwanted contact. The eSafety Commissioner (eSafety.gov.au) has lots of great advice and resources for parents and carers to help keep young people safe online.

Deepfake Technology

Understanding the emerging risks of deepfake technology – and how schools, parents, and young people should respond.

Deepfake technology—AI tools that can manipulate images and videos—is now being misused in ways that seriously affect school communities. Apps that create fake explicit content, including of children, are increasingly being used by young people, often with devastating consequences.

Students in some schools have had their images used in fake nude photos or videos. Others have received AI-generated explicit content involving peers. These incidents can cause significant distress and confusion for families, students, and schools.

While the technology is easy to access, the harm it causes is deeply personal.

To help families understand and respond to these risks, and for further information and resources, we have provided the relevant links to the eSafety website.

ENROLMENTS FOR 2026 ARE OPEN!

We encourage our current families with siblings for next year, or beyond, to please lodge an 'Enrolment Enquiry Form' via our website https://www.leighland.tas.edu.au/enquiries as soon as possible to secure your child’s spot, and to assist our Principals in determining vacancies. Once you have submitted your form, we will send you a link to our application form from our new online enrolment system (Funnel). Please note: siblings are not automatically enrolled; completion of the enrolment application & provision of supporting documentation is required for all students.

If you are aware of a new family who are considering enrolment for their child/ren, please encourage them to complete our Enrolment Enquiry Form. We would welcome the opportunity to provide them with our information pack, and organise a tour of our facilities.

Parents need to complete an ‘Application for Extended Leave for Travel’ form for approval prior to travelling interstate or overseas, and may be required to meet with the Principal, or delegate to discuss a learning plan. Please phone or email the office, and an Application will be emailed to you via our EdSmart system.
