Year 6 Chinese Museum & Chinatown Tour Excursion

Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians,
On Friday, 12 September 2025, our Grade 6 students enjoyed an exciting excursion to the Chinese Museum and self-guided Chinatown tour with their teachers. This experience brought our classroom learning about Chinese history, migration, and culture to life.
At the Chinese Museum, students explored three floors of fascinating exhibitions. They learned about the history of Chinese migration to Australia, admired intricate dragon costumes, and discovered how Chinese communities have contributed to Australia’s rich multicultural story.
After the museum visit, we strolled through Chinatown, where students explored traditional architecture, colourful shopfronts, and the vibrant atmosphere of Melbourne’s oldest cultural precinct. The tour concluded with a delicious lunch, giving students the chance to try authentic Chinese dishes.
The day helped students deepen their understanding of Chinese culture, past and present, and appreciate its influence in Australia. They also practiced respectful behaviour in a public setting and strengthened friendships through shared experiences.
A huge thank you to our Grade 6 teachers and ES teachers who supported the excursion, making it both educational and memorable.
