Classroom Reports

 Foundation

This week in Maths, we continued our work on sharing. We’ve been exploring the idea of fair shares, especially using practical examples like sharing lollies: 🍬—a very motivating subject!

Children are learning to:

  • Divide objects into equal groups

  • Explain how they know the shares are equal

  • Recognise when something isn’t fair (and why!)

In Literacy, we’ve been turning into reading detectives! Our focus has been on looking for clues in a story to learn more about the characters. Rather than being told how a character feels, we’re discovering it through their words and actions, e.g. “Pushed the bowl away” helped us realise the character didn’t like the porridge and “Gulped it down” showed us they really enjoyed it!

At homeyou can support by asking questions whilst reading, e.g. “What makes you think the character felt that way?”

We’ve used this new skill in our own writing, learning to show what our characters are like

instead of just telling.

Enjoy the holiday break coming up.

Year 8 Hard Hill Excursion

Year 8 students recently visited the Hard Hill Tourist Reserve, where they explored the fascinating history of mining and rocks in our local area. Guided by local historical enthusiast Robyn Vella, students gained valuable insights into the early mining days and the significance of the geology that shaped the region. Robyn generously shared her extensive knowledge, bringing the past to life with engaging stories that highlighted not only the science but also the human grit and determination required to survive the harsh conditions and work the mines with only pick and shovel. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to connect Earth science with the resilience and heritage of our community.

Year 10 Term 3 Wrap-Up & Work Experience Ahead

Term 3 has been a productive and exciting one for our Year 10 students. They’ve wrapped up their World War II studies in Humanities and have now begun exploring the world of Economics. Students also recently completed their subject selections for 2026, submitting their first preferences as they look ahead to the final years of their secondary schooling.

Next week, students will take a significant step toward adulthood as they embark on Work Experience Week across Bendigo. This immersive program gives students the chance to experience the realities of full-time work while also managing elements of independent living. We’re incredibly proud of the maturity and enthusiasm our Year 10s have shown in preparing for this opportunity.

We wish all students a valuable and rewarding experience next week and look forward to seeing how this shapes their goals and pathways for the future. Well done, Year 10s, on another fantastic term!

Year 11

We’re nearly to the end!

It’s hard to believe we’re almost at the end of Term 3! A well-deserved break is just around the corner. For our students studying Unit 3 & 4 subjects, the focus now shifts to exam preparation. With exams just around the corner, it’s vital to keep studying hard — and more importantly, studying effectively. Every bit of effort counts.

This Thursday is R U OK? Day, and while it’s an important event on the calendar, it’s just as important to remember that checking in on your mates shouldn’t happen once a year — it should be something we do regularly. Sometimes a simple conversation can make all the difference.

As winter sports wrap up, a big well done to all those who represented their teams this season. Best of luck to those students and staff still competing in The Big Dance at Wedderburn this Saturday — we’re behind you all the way.

We’re also looking forward to Youth Week, being run by our SRC next week. It promises to be a fantastic celebration with plenty of fun activities and opportunities for our students to celebrate and enjoy the last week of term!

Mr G’s Study Tip (or should that be Mr Iser’s!) – The Pomodoro Technique

Studying for hours on end without breaks doesn’t always work. Instead, try the Pomodoro Technique:

  • Study in short, focused bursts of about 25 minutes.
  • Take a 5-minute break.
  • Repeat the cycle 3–4 times, then give yourself a longer break.

This method helps keep your brain fresh, reduces procrastination, and makes study time feel more achievable.

Year 12

Year 12 Report:

A Message to Our Year 12s

Dear Year 12s,

With only four weeks left of your school journey, you are standing at the finish line of one chapter and the starting line of another. These final weeks will feel intense — full of revision, assessments, and reflection — but remember you’ve come so far already.

Every late night of study, every class discussion, every SAC and practice exam has prepared you for this moment. You have built resilience, independence, and determination. These are qualities that will carry you not just through exams, but through life.

It’s normal to feel tired, stressed, or even uncertain about what comes next. But know this: you are capable, you are stronger than you think, and you are supported by your teachers, friends, and family every step of the way.

Take each day as it comes. Celebrate the small wins. Look after yourself and each other. And most importantly — believe in yourself. Your hard work will pay off.

The end of Year 12 isn’t just about exams. It’s about finishing something you started years ago with courage and persistence. That is already an achievement worth celebrating.

We are proud of you — and we can’t wait to see where your journey takes you next.

Keep going, you’ve got this!
