'Creating Futures Together'

Welcome Back for Term 4!

I hope you all enjoyed a well-deserved two-week holiday and returned feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the remainder of the school year. As we dive into Term 4, there's much to look forward to and celebrate at Wheelers Hill Secondary College.

A warm welcome back to Judy Anderson and the students who embarked on an incredible NASA trip in America. We look forward to hearing about the fascinating experiences they had and how it has enriched their learning journey.

Year 12 Students' Farewell

This week marks the final formal classes for our Year 12 students before they commence their exam period. We would like to extend a heartfelt congratulations to our Year 12 students, their families, and dedicated Year 12 teachers. To celebrate their hard work and commitment, a Year 12 Celebration Day will be held prior to students beginning their study leave. We wish our Year 12 students the best of luck with their exams and final portfolios; your dedication has been truly remarkable.

Sports Presentation Night

After a few years missing from the College Calendar of events, our annual Sports Presentation Night took place on Wednesday this week, serving as a wonderful occasion to honour the achievements of our students throughout the year in school carnivals, district, and state competitions. The overwhelming support of the community was heartening. We extend our gratitude to Kerrie Lay and Sally Pryde for their dedication in organizing this memorable event. Along with thanks to the Health and PE team, and student leaders for supporting the evening.

Art and Technology Show

Starting on Thursday, October 19th, we'll be hosting the Art and Technology Show. This event is a celebration of the remarkable work our students have accomplished throughout the year. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to admire the creative submissions of our dedicated staff members. Thank you to Khairi Razaai and the Arts team for coordinating this event.

Student Wellbeing and Mental Health

The wellbeing of our students remains a top priority. We encourage all students to prioritize their mental health and connect with our Year Level Leaders and the Wellbeing team if they ever need support. We have an unwavering commitment to creating a supportive and nurturing environment for every student.

The Importance of Attendance to School

Regular school attendance is fundamental to students' academic success. It not only enhances their learning but also fosters essential life skills. Consistent attendance ensures that students do not miss out on valuable lessons, engagement, and social interactions that shape their educational experience. If your student is absent for any day, please log this via the Compass Parent Portal or contact the General Office on 9561 5811 so this can be accurately recorded.

2024 Timetable and Subject Selections

We are working diligently to finalize senior students' subject placements over the next month. This process is critical as it plays a significant role in shaping our students' academic journey. We encourage students and parents to engage with our Learning & Wellbeing Leaders guidance on subject selections, ensuring they align with their aspirations and future goals.
