Boarding House

- Mr Andrew Monk

Dedication, discipline, and determination.

Study, prep and revision are terms that will send shudders through some of our senior students at the moment as they move closer to their end of year examinations. Effective study though, is a learnt skill where the student needs to discover over time their best method of learning and revising for each discipline they are studying. This is a major achievement in their final year journey, and our senior boarders can be proud of their dedication, discipline, and determination toward their study.

At the beginning of the year, I had said that Year 12 is a test of tenacity to remain focused on the end goal. I’m confident that our boarders have shown the hardwork required last term, and during our holiday break. We had a high number of boarders in for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evening to attend the VCE revision lectures in the holidays.

I look forward to seeing our senior boarders continue upon this journey of dedication over the course of the next few weeks in preparation for their final exams.

What a positive start to the term

It has been such a positive start to the term with boarders quickly back into the rhythm and routine of boarding life. The routine of waking up at 7am, getting ready for breakfast, making your lunch, cleaning up your room, and then making your way to school is the perfect way to start the day. Although boarders may disagree! The walk to school is a real positive for our boarders. Unfortunately, it’s not common for students to be walking 2-2.5km to and from school each day. As a Physical Education teacher this is something I am proud our boarders do and will continue to do. For their physical, social, and mental health this walk is a time for boarders to get to know each other, or to have some alone time and calmly make their way to school, or it can be an important time to call parents and provide an update on how they are travelling. Getting our steps up each day is certainly important for all of us, but, it is something our boarders are doing each and every day.
