From the Principal

- Mr Michael Horne

Again, a very warm welcome back to Term Four. I hope, whatever the holiday period held for you, that it was restful and enjoyable. Students have started back well this week, with most neatly into summer uniform – despite this spate of colder weather – and most having their hats with them as required. Thank you to all parents for your support in the uniform transition, and a reminder that students will be exclusively in summer uniform from the start of week three (Monday 16 October).

Further to the staffing matters relayed in my letter from last week, I’m pleased to be able to confirm that Belinda Nichols will remain as Senior School Head of Learmonth House in 2024. Our senior Learmonthians are in excellent hands and I’m pleased that Belinda will continue to provide leadership and support in this role.

Among the many activities at the end of last term we had sixteen students who received results for AMEB Strings exams, with a consistent level of achievement that is worth highlighting here. My congratulations go to: Elsie Brown, Eloise Bufton, Henry Bufton, Hugo Cameron, Harry Diprose, Scarlett Hawker, Maelys Haynes, Mi-Ha Kim, Su-Riann Kim, Harry Mercer, Matilda Mercer, Fred Nagorka, Violet Shrive, Amelie Shrive, Andrew Sun, and Arshi Woosantia. There were some superb individual results across a range of grades, and three ensembles also achieved very highly with a High Distinction for the Kantor Group; Honours for the Junior Quartet; and a High Distinction for the Chamber Orchestra. My congratulations to all students who sat AMEB exams, and to their teachers who prepared them so well.
