Primary School News
Mr Michael Connolly, Head of Primary School
Dear Primary Parents
This morning, we got the opportunity to gather as a primary community in the Draney Theatre to acknowledge the achievements of some of our boys across Years 5 and 6. These gatherings are important opportunities to place the spotlight on these 20 boys who, for various reasons, have demonstrated attributes aligned with our Men of Courage or Love of Work awards. At the start of the assembly, I congratulated all the boys on their efforts to finish the term off strongly, regardless of whether they were receiving an award or not. I trust that the boys understand the importance of doing the little things right all week so that they can be happy with their efforts and head off on holidays knowing they did their best.
I would like to wish all Grandparents who are coming along on Thursday a great day of celebration here at the college. These special people in our lives will be joining us for a concert, a morning tea and a guided tour of the College... hopefully being expertly guided around the grounds by their grandsons in the Primary School.
Congratulations to all Year 6 boys who have been working so hard on their Science Fair demonstrations. The areas outside the Year 6 classrooms have been a hive of activity this week. Whether it be shooting a basketball through a hoop, driving a fan-powered boat across a pool or testing a steady hand on a buzzer game, there looks to be something fun for everyone to try tomorrow. Well done to our teachers and students for putting their learning on display for the rest of the Primary School to see.
As we end our term together, I pray that all our primary families have a relaxing, safe and well-earned break across the upcoming two-week holidays.

Leadership Retreat
Last Wednesday, over 70 students from Year 5 had the opportunity to participate in a Leadership Retreat afternoon at the Marist Centre. During this retreat, our young leaders gained valuable insights into what it means to be a leader at Marist. They had the chance to reflect on their own leadership qualities and consider how they could contribute if they find themselves in leadership roles next year. We encourage interested boys to write a letter of application by Wednesday afternoon if they aspire to be leaders in 2024.
Buddy Afternoon with Year 12
This Wednesday, we have a special event planned as our Year 12 cohort visits the primary school for a buddy afternoon. The primary school students will play a unique role by facilitating a questionnaire for the senior students. This questionnaire will help them gain a deeper insight into their Year 12 buddies. The information collected will be used to create personalised posters that the buddies will receive as they walk down the guard of honour at graduation. We want to assure everyone that we will also allocate Pastoral Care time next term to ensure all students have the opportunity to create these posters and complete the questionnaires, especially if they are absent or away at the athletics meet.
Lost Property
As Term 3 comes to a close, we have accumulated several unnamed winter uniform items. If your son is missing a uniform item, please ask them to check the lost property.

College App
Please ensure that you download the College App. This app will be used weekly to inform you of sporting fixtures, cancellations and bus arrival information.
Pick-up Arrangements - "Plan B"
It is important that you are aware of your son's pick-up procedure, particularly if sports training is cancelled or you are running late. To keep you informed, a message will be placed on the College App as soon as a decision is made to cancel a sporting fixture or training.
If a cancellation occurs, boys have the option to remain in the Primary School or proceed to an arranged pick-up point. Normally, sports training sessions conclude by 4:45pm, and we ask that boys be picked up at that time or shortly after.
Any boy still at their training venue at 5:00pm will be directed to the Boarding Reception area for collection. Additionally, in the case of bus arrivals, boys will be sent to Boarding Reception 15 minutes after the bus has arrived.
Sports Photographs
We are always on the lookout for photos and action shots to be used for the Blue and Gold, other College publications, season or end-of-year wrap-ups. Please follow this link and add your photos.
