UniSC will cover the cost of the first course and additional courses are only $400.00, so you'll also save money on your full degree!

Work Experience in Term 4 and Christmas Holidays

If you are wanting Work Experience in Term 4 or during the Christmas Holidays, please submit an Expression of Interest Form by Friday 13 October (Friday of Week 2 in Term 4). Forms can be collected from the VET and Careers Office and need to be signed by the student's guardian.

What has been happening in this space?

The VET area has been very busy in Term 3 with many students attending Work Experience in a range of workplaces.

Hospitality students had the opportunity to work at the Brisbane Racing Club again this term in both the front of house and the kitchens. Over 300 sausage rolls, crumbed lamb cutlets and 120 butterflied prawns were grilled. The boys were very excited to finally be in the kitchen with their new knife sets.

Further opportunities will be given to students on 25 October and 1 November in the lead up to the Spring Carnival. Students and parents/guardians will be given forms to complete and bring back so that they can attend these Work Experience opportunities. These forms are required for students to attend Work Experience.

Work Experience

Many students have now been placed for the holidays and Term 4.

Best of luck to all the students attending work experience in the coming weeks.

Logbooks – Collect Before Placement

Students attending work experience are reminded to collect a logbook from the Careers Office prior to their placement. This needs to be completed and returned to the Careers Office following the placement.

Successes to Date

A range of opportunities in various work environments have been leading to students into apprenticeship opportunities. This is a credit to them as these opportunities only come when students demonstrate they have the capacity to engage in the work environment at an apprenticeship level.

Early Release Forms - Available at the VET Careers Office

These forms must be completed to have early release in Weeks 1-3 of Term 4. You must attach the notification from the employer that you will be with them during this time. Please be aware that work experience does not require one of these forms.

Master Classes in Term 4

Life Skills Masterclasses will be offered to students during the first three weeks of Term 4.

Students will be given a list of options to sign up for in Week 10. Students will be asked to enrol via a survey that will be sent to them after the students have been briefed on the options available.

One of the options is to have an opportunity to gain a barista skill set which, if successful, will give them a statement of attainment with actual competencies. This will be delivered over two masterclass sessions. Students will have to have a verified USI to obtain a printed Statement of Attainment. A statement of attainment can not legally be issued without a verified USI.
