PREP

The Preps have made an amazing start to Term 4!

We are continuing to work on persuasive writing and are coming up with some awesome ideas and sentence starters!

In maths we have been working on Place Value with a particular focus on bundling, skip counting and correctly forming our numbers to 20.

We have begun Stage 4+ of our Little Learners program and have been working through the range of sentences and books that come with it.

We have really enjoyed the sunshine the last few days and are looking forward to Mission Day this Friday!

GRADE 1/2

What gorgeous weather to finish off our week!

The Year 2's are super excited for their sleepover tonight. They cannot wait to go bowling, participate in fun activities, and watch a movie in bed!

The Year 1's will have their turn during the Prep and One Fun Night. It will be in Week 7 on the 13th of November. Keep a look out on Dojo for more details.

Tomorrow we have our Mission Day. We look forward to watching the traditional Year 6 vs Staff game and participating in raising money for Mission.

On Tuesday we enjoyed our talk with a local police officer about being cyber-safe. The children enjoyed asking questions about her daily routines as a police officer.

GRADE 3/4

We hope that everyone is enjoying the sunny weather we are finally getting the last few days!

We have had a big week this week! On Tuesday we had a police officer named Stephanie come to have a chat with us about the importance of online safety and always keeping our personal details private online.

Wednesday afternoon, the Grade 3 and 4’s were lucky enough to head to Trinity College to listen to the Trinity College and Apollo Bay Secondary College concert band. A fabulous time was had by all listening to the wonderful musical talents of the secondary students.

Today we had our first swimming session at Bluewater. It was great to see everyone enjoying being in the water and learning valuable swimming skills at the same time. Swimming will continue until Week 9 so please make sure that children bring their bathers, along with a towel and some slip on shoes each week.

Tomorrow we celebrate Mission Day and Grade 4 Judy/Jodie’s Prayer Gathering. We welcome all families to come and join us in prayer at 9am in the Church. Following this we have a fun filled Mission Day with stalls commencing at midday. The children have put in a lot of effort and organisation to get ready for this exciting day. Parents and families are welcomed to come and join in the festivities.

Have a safe and wonderful week!

GRADE 5/6

It has been a very busy start to the Term with many exciting things to come!

The Year 6 students and staff had the most wonderful camp experience in Melbourne. The students had a fabulous time exploring the city and visiting the MCG, Melbourne Gaol, Eureka Skydeck, The Shrine of Remembrance, Melbourne Museum, Imax Theatre, Immigration Museum, Ten Pin Bowling, ACMI and the Victoria Market. On our return to school, we have heard many students and staff say, ‘best camp ever!’

On Wednesday we had a Cyber Safety session with Steph from the Colac Police Station. We discussed the different ways that the internet is used and how we can keep our information and ourselves safe when we are online. We encourage our families to follow up this Cyber Safety discussion at home and ask their child what they learnt.

Over the past two weeks the Year 5 and 6 students have completed online PAT Testing in Reading, Numeracy and Spelling. These assessments provide teachers with information to assist with Term 4 reporting.

This Thursday we start our swimming program at Bluewater. The Year 5s will swim from 1.00- 1.30pm and the Year 6s 1.30-2.00pm. Please remember to pack your swimming bag with a towel, bathers and goggles.

Mission Day is happening this Friday. We are looking forward to the Annual Year 6 v Teachers Rebound Game. The students are very much looking forward to setting up their stalls to raise money for the Catholic Mission. We invite our families to come along from 12.00pm to join in the fun.
