Art by CHPS Artists
Foundation Mixed Media Birdhouses
Foundation students have constructed some fantastic mixed media birdhouses. This involved a variety of art techniques and materials including upcycling cardboard, painting, drawing, cutting and clay sculpting.
Year 1 Papier-mâché Blobbies
Year 1 students loved looking at the very cute ‘Druid’ concrete sculptures by local artist Pete Cromer. Renaming them blobbies, they illustrated some of their own to pratice overlapping. Next, they commenced creating a blobby sculpture using papier mâché over a paper cup. Messy process but satisfying results. The sculptures were painted, glitter was added and faces drawn on.
Year 2 Clay Cupcakes
Year 2 students started by practicing the ‘pinch pot method’ to create a cupcake base. They pressed this into a silicone mould to make it more realistic. They then experimented with the more challenging method of coiling the clay to make the top of the cupcake. They decorated the cupcakes with coloured underglaze and patterns. Their delicious
creations were then fired in our school kiln:
