Leadership Report

Welcome to the Week 8 Newsletter!

This term is flying past and it's hard to believe that we have only two weeks before the school holidays. We have had so many exciting things happening at our school over the past two weeks since the last edition of the newsletter as well as lots of deep learning in classes.

Bunnings Visit

On Thursday 14th September, Sally and Nicky from Bunnings Marion came out to work with our students planting out our school veggie garden. All students from Reception to Year 2 worked in little teams of 5 where they learned about how to plant and care for the plants in our garden. Our garden beds are now all full of planted and flourishing fruit and veggies that will look great and hopefully yield a lot of beautiful fresh produce. I have been able to secure another visit with our Bunnings crew in Autumn next year, where our Primary students will have an opportunity to get involved in the garden planting. The students had a great time, learned a lot and were so polite, respectful, and appreciative of the opportunity. Please be sure to have a look when you're at school doing pickup, drop off or attending next week's assembly.

Reminders...

  • Hats - a sun-safe wide-brimmed hat is to be worn at school anytime the UV is 3 or higher. Having a hat at school to wear at playtime is very important for us to be all able to enjoy our beautiful playground and not be restricted to the undercover areas. Please see the front office which has wide-brimmed hats for sale.
  • Dropping off food at school - sometimes a last-minute drop off of recess or lunch at school is unavoidable. We understand that we are all busy and sometimes these things are needed. If so, this needs to be a healthy lunch or recess (where possible) and definitely not fast food (McDonalds, KFC, etc.). If families that need to do a last-minute drop-off can follow this expectation it will help to avoid unnecessary issues that can arise between students and an awkward conversation between myself and you. Our school follows the Right Bite guidelines and we appreciate the support of all of our families in helping us to model this.
  • Uniform - please make sure that all students are wearing full school uniform at all times. We had some interesting add-ons that crept in during the colder months but with those now behind us, I think we can have an improved look for our school with us all following the uniform expectations.

We have a busy last couple of weeks coming up with  many great things taking place in and outside of classrooms at school. We are powering towards the end of term and looking forward to the final two weeks.

Guy Walmsley
