Message from Mrs. Meyer

Dear Families,

It is hard to believe we are already approaching the midpoint of our first term. The school has been buzzing with energy, and while the initial "back-to-school" adrenaline is still present, I suspect many of you saw the same thing I did last week: a few tired faces!

After the excitement of establishing new routines and navigating those first few weeks with relocations and new learning  spaces, it’s natural for the pace to catch up with our students. This coming week, our focus is on providing a settled and steady environment, allowing those new ways of working to truly embed so every child feels secure and ready to learn.

As we move deeper into the term, I want to express my gratitude for the ongoing dialogue between home and school. Hearing your voices and insights is invaluable. Every conversation we have helps us deepen our understanding of your children. Whether it’s a quick check-in at the gate, more formal getting to know you chats or termly PSGS, your perspective allows us to better meet your child's needs both academically and as valued members of our broader community.

We are looking forward to a productive, calm week of learning and growth. Thank you for your continued support in helping your children navigate their routines and for being such an integral part of our school family.

Carpark Update - A Big Thank You!

A huge thank you to our wonderful community! The new "Kiss and Drop" system has been working incredibly well. We’ve seen a fantastic improvement in traffic flow during both the morning and afternoon rushes, and we truly appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation.

To help us keep things running smoothly and most importantly, keep our children safe, please take a moment to note these updates:

  • Look Out for New Signs: You’ll notice some new signage appearing around the carpark for our traffic school. Please look out for the traffic bollards that are currently marking these new areas.

  • Keeping to the Lanes: Please continue using the top asphalt area for "Kiss and Drop" in the mornings and an overflow carpark in the afternoons. To keep pedestrians safe and protect our new paint, please stick to the designated lanes rather than cutting through the center of the car park or cutting corners.
  • Slow Down for Safety: We’ve noticed a few cars moving a bit too quickly lately. Please remember to drive slowly and keep a watchful eye out. Our students’ safety is our number one priority!

Getting to Know You Chats

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our 'Getting to Know You' chats. It was such a privilege for our teachers to hear about your children’s unique strengths and interests—these insights are invaluable as we begin our journey together. We also want to extend a sincere thank you to those who were so flexible and understanding when we had to reschedule appointments this week. Your patience helps us ensure we can give every family the dedicated time they deserve.

Beginning of the Lenten Season

Last week we marked a significant moment in our liturgical year as we moved from the Feasting of Shrove Tuesday to Fasting during the season of Lent. Thanks to Adriane Ward for popping into St Brigid's and supporting the Holy Cross staff to cook and share Pancakes with out students.

On Wednesday, our entire school gathered for our Ash Wednesday ceremony our Year 3/4 Students.

During this gathering, students and staff were marked with ashes, a traditional and outward sign of our commitment to turning back to God. Lent is a beautiful, reflective time for our community to hit the "pause" button and consider how we can grow in kindness, prayer, and service to others over the next forty days.

All students attending Holy Cross Primary School have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.
