Principal's Report

It has been a busy and productive few weeks at Monash SDS.
Wear Purple Day
A highlight of this week was our Epilepsy Awareness – Wear It Purple Day. It was wonderful to see students and staff wearing purple and showing their support. Thank you to everyone who contributed a gold coin donation and helped paint the school purple for the day.
As we move towards Purple Day on March 26, the world’s annual moment of unity for epilepsy awareness, we are reminded that this movement is global, urgent and growing. Here in Australia, it is estimated that 266,000 people are living with epilepsy — our families, friends, colleagues, students, carers and community members whose experiences are often invisible. Raising awareness helps build understanding, inclusion and support.
SSG’s
These past few weeks have also been filled with Student Support Group (SSG) meetings. These meetings are an important part of our work and provide valuable opportunities for families and staff to collaborate around each student’s learning and wellbeing. It has been lovely seeing so many parents onsite, connecting with teachers and working together to support student goals and progress.
Chicken Update
Our school chickens have also reached an exciting milestone — they have begun laying eggs. Many of our students were involved right from the beginning when we hatched the eggs, and they are now seeing the full cycle from caring for the chickens through to collecting eggs. The chickens continue to be a firm favourite with our students, and the eggs will now be used in our cooking programs, making the learning experience even more meaningful.
Thank you to our families for your continued support.
We hope everyone enjoys the long weekend, and we look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday, as there will be no school on Monday.
