Library News

Library Volunteers
I want to start this week by thanking everyone who expressed interest in becoming a library volunteer. The level of support was overwhelming! We now have 15 new volunteers who were trained by Mr Matthews last week and have officially begun their rotations.
For those of you who put your name forward but were not selected this time, we have placed your details on a list and will notify you when additional support may be required.
Premier's Reading Challenge
Premier's Reading Challenge
The NSW Premier's Reading Challenge has kicked off again for 2026! If you or your child are interested in taking part, please read the instructions below.
Your child can access their profile either by going directly to the Premier's Reading Challenge website or by searching for the application block within their student portal. Please see the direct link to the website below:
https://online.education.nsw.gov.au/prc/studentExperience.html#/
Once on the website, click Login in the top-right corner of the page. You will be prompted to enter your child’s school login and password, the same credentials they use to access computers at school.
After logging in, you will see several options, including adding books to your reading record, exploring reading lists, and accessing other helpful information.
The Challenge will close on Friday, 18 September 2026, at 11:59 pm. Don’t miss out!
Paying for Misplaced Books
Part of running a library is the maintenance and upkeep of our school’s collection. Believe it or not, 15 to 20 books need repair regularly, and 5 to 10 books go missing each year. It is an unfortunate side of managing a library, but Mr Matthews and Ms Lee do their best to ensure books are repaired or replaced at regular intervals.
We understand that many books are misplaced unintentionally, often left on public transport or at stores. The school library’s policy is that if the book can be returned, we would greatly appreciate it. However, if you receive a library notice and prefer to pay for a replacement, this can be done through the School Bytes website.
Please click the link below for the Parent Guide to paying for a lost or damaged book:
As always, if you believe the book has been returned to the school, please have your child bring their overdue notice to the library. Mr Matthews, Ms Lee, and our wonderful volunteers will do their best to locate the book and remove the charge from your child’s record.
