NAIDOC march

Last Monday 23 students and 8 staff proudly participated in the NAIDOC Orange community march. Once at Robertson Park students enjoyed watching cultural performances and exploring the stalls.

Keep the fire burning! Blak, loud and proud.

NAIDOC Week celebrations at school

Whole school events:

Dinawan's Connection- On Tuesday, our staff and students had an amazing time exploring Aboriginal culture and dance! Jarrod from Dinawan’s Cowra spoke about country and taught us Wiradjuri names of animals and how to move like them. We learned about ochre and Jarrod painted us up before we transformed into kangaroos (wumbuwuny), emus (dhinawan), goannas (gugaa), and echidnas (bigibila).

Just before lunch, we came together as a whole school to perform together. Both students and staff had a great time learning about and celebrating Wiradjuri culture!

'An Arvo on the Oval' - Friday afternoon was packed with fun as we celebrated NAIDOC with a range of activities. Rex Cochrane presented NAIDOC awards, and students enjoyed music, obstacle course and Hungry Hippo bouncy castles, as well as face painting. We were treated to Spilt Milk and bush tucker tastings featuring emu, kangaroo, and crocodile! Gerald Power generously donate Lemon Myrtle and Bush Tomato relishes, and students made delicious wattleseed biscuits. It was a fantastic way to wrap up the week, and everyone had a fabulous time!

NAIROC - Our bucket drummers and senior dance group had everyone clapping to Taylor Swift and dancing in the isles to Footloose.

Stage activities:

Early Primary - rotational activities including storytime & painting, symbol making, music & singing.

Upper Primary - rotational activities including boomerang painting, sand art, storytelling and indigenous games.

Stage 4 - YouTube stories/clips, dot painting artworks, Indigenous games.

Stage 5 - cultural excursion to local significant sites and read stories to younger students.

Stage 6 - collaborative artwork (displayed at front transport); Aboriginal sand art; cooked wattleseed and chocolate muffins. Watched Rabbit Proof Fence as a stimulus for discussion; Dreamtime stories at circle time; First Nations bingo.

OLC - shared a picnic lunch and listen to Blak hits for kids.

National Police Remembrance Ceremony

On the last day of Term 3, our Senior School Leaders - Stella, Dylan, Blake, and Zane, along with Ms Pritchard and Mrs Rutten, had the privilege of attending the National Police Remembrance Ceremony at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Orange. This gathering was a time of reflection, honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice and celebrating the courage and commitment of all law enforcement personnel. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to these heroes and their families.

World Teacher's Day

Last week, we celebrated the dedication and passion of our incredible teachers. Thank you for the extraordinary work you do each day. Teaching is far more than standing in front of a class and sharing knowledge; it’s about showing care, providing support, offering counsel, leading by example, and mentoring our students. Your commitment shapes the lives of our young learners, and we are deeply grateful for all that you do!
