From the Principal
Hello everyone
It is so lovely to be back after a break in Term 3. Julie Hudson and Jodie Pritchard capably managed the school in my absence and I thank them and the relieving Deputy Principals, Kari Priest and Jessica Hodder.
The first three weeks have been jam-packed with activities including NAIDOC celebrations, NAIROC concert, the dedication of our hydrotherapy spa, stage 4 excursion to Canberra, stage 6 community program, stage 5 outings to several interesting places (see posts in Inside the Classroom) and World Teacher's Day.
We have an incredible teaching staff who provide not only educational support but focus on care and kindness to the students of our school. I thank them for their service to public education.
I was excited to be asked to present our school's attendance strategies at the 5th National Indigenous Education Summit being held in Perth last week. Ms Pritchard and I presented remotely to a large audience and the ideas and strategies presented were well received.
The school's budget for 2025 arrived last week and the executive and I have been working on staffing for next year. We are also considering establishing a new support class as we have had many applications presented at the Placement Panel and are currently at capacity.
Mr Low welcomed a beautiful baby boy at the end of the holidays and he is currently on leave enjoying fatherhood. Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Low and we can't wait to meet Benjamin soon. We have been excited to welcome Mrs Elke Cunial back to school and the executive. Mrs Cunial has been on maternity leave and will be supporting students on work experience while Mr Low is on leave.
Please ensure that your child/ward has a school hat each day. School hats are given to students as needed, so please let their teacher know if they need one. Sunscreen is available in the classrooms and can be applied as needed.
A reminder to please let the school know if your child is absent from school. This can be via the Sentral Portal app, by email or phone.
I look forward to the last month of Spring as we join other schools for the Young Archies and Dream Cricket.
