Road Smart Interactive Incursion

During Week 3, Year 10 students participated in the Road Smart Interactive incursion adapted from the award-winning 'Road to Zero Experience' at Melbourne Museum.

The interactive stations focused on the following themes:

1. Body built to survive

2. Design a safer environment

3. VR road trip to zero

4. Safer behaviours quiz

5. Vehicle design crash lab

6. Global road safety

This evidence-based, road safety education program utilised the latest immersive technology to guide students through a series of experiences that engaged them in thinking about how they can be a part of the solution to eliminating road trauma.

Two students have shared some thoughtful reflections on their experience.

One student shared, 'I enjoyed the road safety program, it helped me know about roads and driving safely. It was a good experience, especially for us teenagers because we are just getting our L’s and starting to drive. I feel like the VR could have been more interesting if there had been a car crash or driving with a wheel.'

Another student highlighted the interactive nature of the program, saying, 'I enjoyed the road safety program and how interactive it was. I liked the VR experience and using the iPads at different stations. This was a good program for people who already have their permit or are wanting to get it because it teaches you about important road safety.'
