Literacy

We have been exploring different styles of writing such as procedural and informative. Students have been using resources such as dictionaries, I.T. devices and thesauruses to learn new words and definitions.

Don’t forget ‘Read with Me’ every morning from 8:50 am to 9 am in the Foundation and Year 1/2 classrooms.

Mathematics

We have been exploring the features of 3-dimensional shapes by comparing and making our own shapes.  Students have also been practising telling the time on analogue clocks.

We have been exploring location, giving and following directions as well as reading maps and identifying features on a map through a key. Students enjoy creating their maps with features.

We continue to practise counting patterns and effective mental strategies when solving number problems.

Inquiry

Students have been exploring various cultures, and recently they have focused on Aboriginal Dreamtime stories. They are learning about different aspects of Aboriginal culture, including art, language, and food. The students have been posing questions and conducting research related to these cultures, sharing their newfound knowledge with their peers.

Swimming

Students enjoyed their first week of swimming at Clayton Swimming Pool, becoming more independent and demonstrating responsibility for their belongings.
