Swimming

Our Prep students are diving into a fantastic new adventure as they begin their first-ever primary school swimming program! At this very young age, they're already learning the essentials of water safety, including how to stay safe around water and the importance of always swimming with an adult. They also build essential skills like floating, kicking, and basic strokes through fun and engaging lessons. This program helps them gain confidence in the water while fostering teamwork and coordination. We're excited to see them grow, splash, and learn important life skills in a safe and supportive environment!

Literacy

In addition to swimming, our Prep students are also making great strides with their literacy skills. In the past couple of weeks, they have been focusing on r-controlled vowels like /er/, /ir/, and /ur/, exploring words like "her," "bird," and "turn." Through reading books and identifying these sounds, they’re not only building phonemic awareness but also practising using these words in sentences. The students are also learning the sounds /oi/ and /oy/, as in "coin" and "boy," by spotting these words in stories and using them to enhance their vocabulary. It's exciting to see them connect sounds with words and boost their reading skills!

Inquiry

Students have been exploring the fascinating topic of how humans impact animals and their habitats! They are learning that animals live in special places like forests, oceans, and jungles, and how these places can be affected by things people do. The students are discovering that when we cut down trees, pollute water, or build too many roads, it can make it harder for animals to find food, shelter, or even stay safe. Through simple activities and stories, they understand the importance of taking care of the Earth, such as recycling, planting trees, and protecting animals' homes to keep them safe and healthy. It's inspiring to see them developing a love for nature and a desire to protect it!
