What Goes on at Lilydale Heights College?

Tim Wright

At Lilydale Heights College our goal is to Optimise the learning growth of every student.   We have many strategies that we have developed and continue to improve on to support this goal.

Entry and Exit Routines

The College has developed Entry and Exit Routines for all students in all classes based on our professional learning with the Berry Street Educational Model.

Aim:

  • To create and maintain a positive learning environment where all members of the College community display the agreed values and attitudes.
  • To maintain a positive learning environment that is consistent and predictable for students to promote self-regulation.
  • To provide a consistent approach for a morning “check in” and a check in for every class to ensure that students are “Ready to Learn”.

ENTRY Routine – All students line up outside the classroom

  • The teacher welcomes the student to class by acknowledging each student. It allows the teacher to check in to ensure that the student is Ready to Learn - ensuring that they the required equipment for class and are in school uniform.

EXIT Routine – On teacher instruction, all students stand behind their chairs at the end of the lesson waiting to be dismissed. The teacher can congratulate the class on the session and check to ensure the room is clean.   Students should not be standing behind their chairs waiting for the bell.
